Guests arriving by car should follow directions for La Spezia and then for the Central Train Station. Our property is located right to the left, when accessing the road to the station.

La Spezia is easily accessible by direct train from all major Italian cities. Once you arrive, exit at Piazza della Stazione and turn left onto Via Paleocapa. The entrance to the Hotel Firenze e Continentale is just a short walk away, at number 7 of this street.

The closest airport is Pisa, approx. 84 km away. Alternatively, guests can fly to Genoa Airport (approx.100 km's away). Both cities are connected to La Spezia by train. Our staff will be happy to arrange your transfer: assisting you in booking the seats on the train to La Spezia or reserving our shuttle at a very convenient rate.

The location makes our Hotel the perfect base for visiting the Cinque Terre, La Spezia, the wonderful villages of the Gulf of Poets and much more. The train station is just a few steps away from the hotel and allows you to reach the Cinque Terre in a little more than 5 minutes. Should you prefer to travel by car or by boat, you will easily reach Porto Venere, Lerici, San Terenzo, Tellaro and many other beautiful locations in the surroundings.

Starting from the second half of the nineteenth century, the city has experienced an extraordinary development when the great Navy Arsenal, wanted by the Savoy Reign, largely changed its destiny and appereance. Going back to the time of the Maritime Republics, Spezia was widely connected to Genoa’s events and facts. Visitors can still perceive the Genoese influence when walking along the “carruggio” which divides in half the city center, via del Prione, a few steps from our hotel. The city offers monumental attractions of absolute value, such as the Castle of San Giorgio (1262), the Maritime Military Arsenal (1869), the Civic Theater (1849) and many Christian churches such as the Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta.

  • The Cinque Terre

Five small enchanting fishermen villages built between sea, cliffs and mountains. Riomaggiore, Manarola, Corniglia, Vernazza and Monterosso al Mare. Located along the coastline that leads to Genoa, these five historic little towns (World Heritage List - UNESCO since 1997) distinguish themselves for their unique landscape made of steep hiking paths, vineyards and dry-stone walls perched right above the sea.

  • The Gulf of Poets

The Gulf of La Spezia, also known as Gulf of Poets, is famous worldwide. This nickname was given in relation to the fact that over the centuries many literates and artists have visited or had their residence here: writer D.H. Lawrence, poet Lord Byron, and writer P.B. Shelley with his wife Mary, author of the famous Frankestein novel.

  • Portovenere

Fortifications, castles, historic churches, the Palmaria, Tino and Tinetto islands, make Portovenere one of the most fascinating villages in our area. The most representative monuments are the church of San Pietro, perched on a cliff overlooking the horizon and the nineteenth century Fort Umberto I on Palmaria's Island which hosts thematic exhibitions, shows and cultural events.

  • Lerici, San Terenzo and Tellaro

. Lerici, San Terenzo and Tellaro are other three pearls in the far east of the Gulf of Poets. The villages of Lerici and San Terenzo are situated in a small natural bay, protected by two medieval castles. Take a stroll through colourful houses, cliffs and large beaches. San Terenzo is home to Mary Shelley, a famous writer. In the easternmost part of the coast, perched on a small cliff, stands Tellaro, a small fishermen village considered to be one of the most beautiful in Italy.
